Restoring Lives Beyond Mental Health
At Genuine Health Alliance, our mission has always been about helping people rebuild their lives. For years, we've walked alongside individuals and families as they recovered from trauma, grief, financial hardship, domestic violence, and life's most difficult transitions.
Through that work, we discovered another need.
Many families who have already experienced the devastating loss of a home never realize they may still be entitled to money left behind after a foreclosure or tax sale. Those funds often remain unclaimed—not because they don't belong to the family, but because they don't know they exist or don't know how to recover them.
Our Surplus Funds Recovery Services were created to change that.
Just as we advocate for emotional healing through mental health services, we now advocate for financial restoration by helping eligible property owners recover surplus funds that may rightfully belong to them. Every successful recovery represents more than money—it represents another opportunity for a family to rebuild, regain stability, and move forward with hope.
Our Mission
We believe restoration is holistic. Healing the mind is important, but helping families recover financial resources that belong to them can also restore hope, stability, and new opportunities for the future.
When a property is sold through a foreclosure or tax sale, the proceeds are generally distributed in the following order:
Outstanding mortgage balance
Property taxes
Court costs
Other legal liens
If money remains after these obligations are satisfied, the remaining funds are called surplus funds (also known as excess proceeds).
These funds are often held by a court, county, or other government agency until a valid claim is filed.
Many eligible property owners never recover these funds because they:
Are unaware the money exists
Have moved without updating their address
Don't understand the claims process
Feel overwhelmed by legal paperwork
Assume the money has been lost forever

Our Asset Recovery Process
1. Research & Asset Identification
We conduct a thorough review of publicly available records to determine whether surplus funds may exist following a foreclosure or tax sale.
2. Eligibility Review
Once potential surplus funds have been identified, we evaluate the available records to determine whether you may be eligible to file a claim.

4. Service Agreement & Documentation
If you choose to move forward, we will provide the necessary service agreement and claim documentation. We guide you through completing the required forms and explain any supporting documentation that may be needed. Some documents may require notarization depending on the requirements of the agency holding the funds.
5. Claim Preparation & Submission
Once your completed documents have been received, we prepare your claim package and submit it to the appropriate court, county, or government agency responsible for administering the surplus funds.
6. Claim Monitoring
After your claim has been submitted, we monitor its progress, respond to requests for additional information when appropriate, and keep you informed throughout the process.
7. Recovery & Distribution
When your claim has been approved, the government agency or court releases the funds to the eligible claimant according to its established procedures. If our services are provided on a contingency basis, our agreed-upon fee will be handled in accordance with the terms of our service agreement.
